New Missie Zee items

New Fall & Halloween items now in the shop!

August 18, 2009

Popping in to say hi!

I've been really enjoying my month away from blogging, but had to pop in to say hi!

After having a really nice birthday with my mom, she came to visit me, Daphne developed a minor eye infection (on her paralyzed side). Taking her to the vet was quite the ordeal, she hyperventilated the entire trip in the car. She is doing a lot better now, though she really does not like me putting ointment in her eye.

Drusilla has been a great older sister by sleeping next to Daphne at night and keeping her well cared for during the day.

I've been keeping myself busy by working hard on some brand new items for my shop. I have a new category or two in the works too. I hope to have many new items ready by next week.

I also made some changes to the look of the Missie Zee blog. I fooled around with my Paint Shop Pro last weekend while I was taking care of Daphne and came up with a new banner. It is plain, but I like it. I might start making a few changes around this blog too (nothing too major), I still haven't decided yet. So, if things start to look crazy around here that is why.

Unfortunately, I haven't been keeping up with my challenge, though I still have yet to buy anything at a craft store. That will be changing this weekend. I have several items I need to get, so I have to bite the bullet and go. At least I lasted a little over a month, right?

As far as the remainder of the month goes, I've got plenty to keep me busy: my fantasy football draft, a new CAL, finishing up items for shop. . . I'm also working on the football pincushion tutorial, so look for that in early September.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer. Fall is almost here, Yay!

Missie Zee is having a sale!

I've decided to put a few of my Esty shop items on sale to try and make some room for my new fall items.

The items currently on sale are:
  • Boys of Summer Food Set
  • LOVE Lolly Set
  • PARTY Lolly Set
  • Pastel Sugar Cookies
  • Crocheted Donut Pincushion
The sale will be running today through Sunday, August 16.

Once the listings on these items expire I won't be re-listing or selling them again until next summer. So if something strikes your fancy you might want to pick it up this week!

New fall items will be arriving in the shop in the next couple of weeks. I am still in the brainstorming faze, so that means I haven't even started yet. Yikes! I guess I know what I'll be doing for the month of August. :)

HPKCHC spells F.U.N!

s if I don't have enough craft projects on my plate, I have gone and signed up for a new CAL/KAL. I really shouldn't take on more projects since my craft to-do list is longer than Santa's naughty & nice list, but this one looks to be a whole lot of fun, so I couldn't resist.

The Harry Potter Knitting and Crochet House Cup (HPKCHC) Ravelry group starts its new school year on September 1, and I have been admitted as a first year student. Yay

The Headmistress put a lot of thought and work into this. It looks like it is going to be a ton of fun!

First, each member is sorted by the sorting hat into a house (fingers crossed for Gryffindor or Slytherin). I know complete and utter opposites, but I love the Gryffindor gang and have a soft spot for Snape, the Malfoys, and Bellatrix!

Once we are in our houses, we will have the opportunity to choose "classes" we want to attend. Each class has certain requirements we need to fulfill to pass, and each class offers points toward our house cup. The coolest thing is that these requirements are in the form of crochet and knitting patterns. For example, last semester's Charms class project was "Geminio, The Duplication Charm". The requirements were as follows: "Geminio is used to make copies of a single item. In Deathly Hallows, we discover that copies of Gryffindor’s sword have been made this way. So, your task this month is to make duplicates of something. Hats, mini socks, scarves, bookmarks, whatever. Do it in the right colours and you can go to the movies matching up to all your friends!" Too cool!

We are also required to pass one "O.W.L.". These are much harder projects that require more than a month to complete. This one has me a little worried. :)

In addition to the classes and our O.W.L., we can take part in Quidditch, which are completely different, but pretty, easy projects. The more we make, the more points our house gets.

If you are on Ravelry and want to join in the fun, search Harry Potter for the group. Who knows, maybe we'll end up in the same house! My Ravelry name is, Missie Zee.

If you are not on Ravelry but want to see some of the fun, check out the blog.

So for now, until I am sorted, I will be learning all of the rules and requirements for my first year at Hogwarts, plus finishing up my WIPs to get ready for the fun on September 1. I just hope I can find my way to Platform 9 3/4!
